Copper phthalocyanine (CuPc, Pigment Blue 15), with the chemical formula C32H16CuN8, CAS number 147-14-8, and a molecular weight of 576.07, is a blue organic pigment. It appears as bright greenish-blue rod-shaped crystals or powder, is flammable, and exists in two crystal forms, α and β, with the β form being more stable. Its melting point is 600℃ (decomposes). It is insoluble in water, alcohols, and hydrocarbon solvents, but soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid, forming an olive-colored solution. Upon dilution, a blue suspension precipitates.
Pigment blue powder B12 is a new type of blue pigment developed by Zhongyang Chemical. It requires a small amount and can be used in combination with fluorescent whitening agents. It is widely used for whitening and brightening of EVA, polypropylene, nylon, and polyester fiber plastic products, and has excellent whitening effect, especially for recycled plastics.
