Product Description
Physicochemical Properties
Solvent Yellow 93 is an organic azo dye. It presents as a yellow to orange crystalline powder or greenish-yellow powder at room temperature, with no obvious odor. Its physical constants are as follows: melting point 180 °C, boiling point 556.2 °C at 760 mmHg, density 1.27 g/cm³ or 1.3±0.1 g/cm³, flash point 290.2 °C, vapor pressure 0.0±1.5 mmHg at 25 °C or 2.07×10⁻¹² mmHg at 25 °C, pKa 1.73±0.70 (predicted), refractive index 1.668, LogP (XLogP3-AA) 2.8, and topological polar surface area (TPSA) 65.3 Ų. The compound is insoluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents. Its purity is generally ≥98% or 99%, fineness (residue on 150 μm sieve) ≤5%, and ash content ≤0.2%. Stability and fastness properties of Solvent Yellow 93 include: heat resistance >300 °C or 280–300 °C, light fastness grade 5–6 or 7–8, alkali fastness grade 5, low migration tendency in plastics, and moderate resistance to acids and alkalis.
Applications
Solvent Yellow 93 (Transparent Yellow 3G) is an organic azo dye mainly used for coloring in various industrial fields such as plastics, coatings, synthetic fibers, masterbatches, leather, toners, and personal care products.
In the plastics and polymer industry, Solvent Yellow 93 is used to color various synthetic materials including polystyrene, polyethylene, and polyester resins. Recommended dosage: 0.02%–0.05% for transparent products, 0.1%–0.2% for opaque products, 0.05%–0.15% for polyester fibers, and 0.03%–0.1% for PS, PMMA, ABS, PC and other materials. In coatings and printing inks, it is used due to its good solubility in organic solvents, with a recommended dosage of 0.1%–0.5%. In synthetic fibers, it is applied for dope dyeing of polyester fibers at 0.05%–0.2%.
In masterbatch production, it is used for manufacturing polyester masterbatches at 2%–10%. For leather dyeing, the recommended dosage is 0.1%–0.3%. In addition, Solvent Yellow 93 also serves as a colorant for toners and is used in personal care products.
