Solvent Green 3, also known as Oil Green 5B or D&C Green No. 6, is a high-grade anthraquinone-based oil-soluble dye. It appears as a bluish-black powder and exhibits a bright bluish-green hue when dissolved in organic solvents or polymers. Its excellent thermal stability and light fastness make it a standard choice for high-end synthetic materials. Solvent Green 3 is a versatile, high-performance dye. Solvent Green 3 is a bluish-black powder with outstanding solubility in various organic solvents, including chloroform, benzene, chlorobenzene, xylene, and DMF. This makes it ideal for applications requiring high solubility and stability in non-aqueous environments. Although Solvent Green 3 is insoluble in water, it shows unique behavior when dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid: it turns blue, and upon dilution with water, forms a striking bluish-green precipitate. This property is particularly useful in analytical chemistry, colorimetric assays, and other specialized applications. Usage: Solvent Green 3 is mainly used for coloring plastic resins. It is also applied for dope dyeing of polyester fibers and for coloring masterbatches such as polyester.
